Beyond the game, Byron channels the unifying power of sport into community impact through his BS4G Foundation (“Byron Scott 4 Good”). Its Summer Champions Initiative funds meals, bottled-water distribution, and cooling relief through Phoenix’s hardest summer months in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul, while the BS4G Legacy Scholarship invests directly in ASU student-athletes. In early 2025, he organized a celebrity golf tournament to raise funds for victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. In March 2025, Byron and Cece were named Habitat for Humanity Ambassadors of the Year, in recognition of their advocacy for affordable housing in the greater Los Angeles area. His guiding belief — “championships are won in locker rooms, not on the scoreboard” — reflects a career-long commitment to showing up for the communities that shaped him.

Byron Scott is one of basketball’s most respected figures — a three-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers during the storied “Showtime” era (1985, 1987, 1988) and the 2008 NBA Coach of the Year. Over a 15-year playing career, he starred alongside Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and James Worthy, later mentoring a young Kobe Bryant, and went on to a coaching career leading four NBA franchises. An Arizona State legend, he had his No. 11 jersey retired by the Sun Devils in 2011.
