Julie Déchanet-Merville, PhD

Julie Déchanet-Merville, PhD holds a position of Director of the Research Lab ImmunoConcEpT and a Director of the core facility TransBioMed Core. She has a PhD in human Immunology and is employed by the CNRS as a Research Director. She has led a productive research team in Bordeaux since 2001.

Dr. Déchanet-Merville’s research explores the biology of gamma-delta T cells to understand how these cells are participating in human body integrity. Basic investigations aim to define cell activation and their specific functions, particularly in immune defenses against infectious diseases and cancer as well as in the context of organ transplantation. To address these questions, they developed approaches to isolate and grow human gamma-delta T cells, to identify the molecular patterns used to recognize target cells and, to analyze immune functions in vitro or in vivo using appropriate animal models and patient cohorts.

Dr. Déchanet-Merville is a member of the academic council of Bordeaux University and a member of the Biology and Health doctoral school scientific committee.
